Notable Highlights

As a full-time employee, co-led the implementation of a new enterprise-wide operating model, established a customer-focused organization, and a company-wide customer service division leading to:

  • A fully re-defined, realigned & organized center-led operating model implemented across the $50B enterprise including new commercial, customer-focused, and customer service organizations.

  • The identification of over $2B in internal transactional waste between decentralized enterprise functions (chargebacks, invoicing, etc.) for reduction/elimination.

  • $80MM gross profit margin identified and under execution in newly-defined Go-To-Market/Commercial division. 

As a long-term consultant, participated in the resurgence efforts of the Harley-Davidson brand across product, dealership, digital, and customer/go-to-market efforts leading to:

  • Consolidated revenue over $6B mark for the first time since 2006

  • 2x growth rate in young adults, women, and people of color

  • 55% of the new motorcycle registrations in 2013

  • Share of the heavyweight motorcycle market for young adult men/women increased from 31.9% to 47.3%

  • International sales of new Harley-Davidsons grew by more than 5% and accounted for more than 36% of total retail Harley-Davidson motorcycle sales. Up from 30% in 2008. 

As a consultant, worked across a multi-discipline team focused on building a combined payor/provider clinic model to capture new and changing market opportunities in Healthcare,  Results included:

  • First-ever Kansas City market business model combining payor/provider

  • Business and product model definition, partnership model, digital and in-clinic patient experience model  ​

  • Implemented initial clinics and since have scaled to 9 locations with an avg of 10,000 covered lives

What's In A Name?

Why the name Alpha Leonis?   Regulus, or its Latin derivative, Alpha Leonis, is the brightest star in the constellation of Leo and one of the brightest stars in the night sky. The name was chosen during a summer visit to a local lake after Founder, Michael Chandler, and his wife, Kelly, ran through a brandstorming exercise. Born in July of 1974, a Leo, and with a historical coat of arms and family crest containing three lions, this name was more than fitting to represent the integrity, perseverance and grit Michael applies to his consulting and the organizations he builds and leads.  Furthermore, Alpha represents "the leader of the pack" and Leonis translates to "lion strength." The consultancy is based on his wealth of expertise gained over the years as a recognized leader, consultant and entrepreneur.
